Daikin, the
air conditioning systems company, has launched an innovative and highly cost
effective upgrade for VRV systems (VRV-Q) still operating on R-22 refrigerant,
which is shortly to be banned. The new Daikin VRV-Q system will be available from February. With capacities of between five and 30HP, the Daikin VRV-Q delivers drastically increased efficiencies, promising significantly lower energy consumption than existing installed equipment.
Under EU legislation, a total
ban on the use of R-22 will come into force in 2015 but a ban on the use of
virgin R-22 is already being introduced in January 2010.
Daikin’s new VRV-Q uses zero ozone depleting R-410A, which not only reduces associated CO2 emissions and improves energy efficiency, but also offers users a technically secure.
Daikin’s innovative solution allows
all existing VRV R-22 piping - and potentially also controllers and indoor
units installed since 1996 - to be retained, so only the outdoor units need to
be replaced.
